Training Dancers for Today’s Ballet Companies
We are searching for the best ballet dancers in Michigan – those who have superb work ethic combined with tremendous talent, to be part of our Professional Trainee Program and study from some of the world’s greatest professional ballet dancers and teachers.
Our Professional Trainee Program is a specialized intensive year-round training program for serious female and male ballet students ages 12-20 who strive for the highest standard in classical ballet and contemporary ballet education, with the goal of a professional ballet career. Under the expert guidance of famed Russian ballet masters, students will receive world-class training in the Vaganova ballet method, studying both technique and artistry required for a career as a modern day professional dancer. Students will also participate in full-length performances, competitions, and an optional trip to Russia, as well as benefit from the new exchange program partnership developed between the Academy and Russia’s famed Perm Ballet Academy.
Working daily under our professional staff, students will develop the essential skills to fully explore and realize their greatest individual potential.

The level of education offered in our program is not available anywhere in the State of Michigan, and the instruction is on par with top international academies, with the unique aspect of being conducted in a small, supportive and personal environment. Our instructors are truly invested in each and every student, working hard to develop and nurture students individual talents. Our new faculty members are the only instructors in Michigan with such a substantial level of experience and knowledge – not only graduating from some of the best ballet academies in the world, but also a combined 75 years of experience as professional ballet dancers, performing the Principal roles in every major classical ballet, as well as Principal roles in works by Balanchine, Robbins, Forsythe, Possokhov, and multiple contemporary pieces. They have toured the world, performing throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America. Our instructors have their Masters in Teaching in Ballet Pedagogy from the esteemed Perm Institute of Arts and Culture, and have taught full-time for Russia’s Perm Ballet Academy, one of the top professional ballet academies in the world. Additionally, one of our newest faculty members – Mr. Ivan was nominated twice for “Gold Mask Award” as the “Best Male Ballet Dancer” of Russia. Their many years of experience, and versatility as dancers performing Principal roles in both classical and contemporary works, combined with excellence in teaching, award them the ability to pass along incomparable first-hand knowledge to their students, providing a truly unique experience for Michigan dancers.
Auditions & Enrollment
Acceptance is by audition only. To audition students may attend an open audition, or send a video. The program is open to advanced students. Scholarships are available for advanced level male students.

Madame Marianna Lobanova,
Ballet Mistress, Professional Trainee Program 2017/2018 Season
Madame Lobanova is a graduate of Russia’s Saratov State Choreographic Institute. Upon graduation she joined the Saratov State Ballet Theatre, and later the Lvov Ballet Theatre. As a professional ballerina she performed the theatre’s entire classical repertoire. Madame Lobanova began her teaching career in Lvov, where she was invited to move to St. Petersburg to study full time in the Pedagogy program. She received her Master’s Degree in Vaganova Ballet Pedagogy from the famed Vaganova Academy of St. Petersburg, graduating with high honors. Upon graduation from the Vaganova Academy’s teaching program, Madame Lobanova was invited to study at the world renowned GITIS (Russian University of Theatrical Arts) in Moscow, where she received an additional degree in Ballet Pedagogy. Madame Lobanova is the only ballet instructor in the United States who has pedagogy degrees from both the Vaganova Academy and GITIS. She was a senior level instructor for Russia’s Saratov State Choreographic Institute. Madame Lobanova served as the leading ballet mistress for the Kirov Academy of Ballet for nine years. She has trained numerous professional dancers throughout the world, and is widely regarded as one of the best Vaganova ballet instructors of our time.
Madame Olga Korotaeva,
Ballet Mistress, Professional Trainee Program 2017/2018 Season
Madame Korotaeva graduated with honors from the world famous Perm State Choreographic Institute (Perm Ballet Academy), under the guidance of L. Sakharova. The Perm State Choreographic Institute is widely regarded as one of the top international professional ballet academies. Upon graduation she joined the Perm Ballet Theatre where she performed extensively with the company in all of the major classical ballets including Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Nutcracker, Golden Age, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and many more.
Following a successful career as a professional dancer, Madame Korotaeva received her Masters Degree in ballet pedagogy and character dance from the Moscow State Choreographic Institute, completing the full advanced teaching program. The Moscow State Choreographic Institute is considered one the most esteemed teaching programs in the world. Her degrees are in Vaganova ballet pedagogy, choreography and character dance. She is certified by the institution as a ballet instructor at the highest level. She has completed additional teacher training from the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia.
In 2005 Madame Korotaeva joined the professional year round ballet teaching staff of the Perm State Choreographic Institute, where she is a full-time staff member conducting ballet, character and historical dance classes. In addition to teaching at the Perm State Choreographic Institute, Madame Korotaeva also worked as a ballet mistress for the Perm Ballet Theatre, coaching dancers and setting performances for the company. Her students have won many international competitions and are performing professionally throughout Russian and Europe.
Madame Korotaeva is a highly sought after ballet instructor and teaches master classes throughout the world including Japan, Europe and South America. Madame Korotaeva conducts the ballet pedagogy training courses for the Perm State Choreographic Institute, and trains teachers in the highest levels of the Vaganova method. She is also an annual guest instructor for Perm-Japan Ballet Institute in Tokyo, and a judge for the International Ballet Competition in Nara Japan.
We are incredibly honored to have such an esteemed ballet instructor head our new Professional Trainee program for ballet students in Michigan. Madame Korotaeva’s talent will provide our students with an invaluable training opportunity consistent with training only available at the best ballet academies in the world!
Mr. Nikolai Morschakov ~ Artistic Director * Men’s Trainee Program * Private Coaching
Mr. Morschakov graduated with honors from the Saratov State Choreographic Institute in Russia, and joined the famed Grigorovich Ballet, under the direction of Yuri Grigorovich, as a Soloist. He was promoted to a Principal ballet dancer shortly after. During his extensive career as a Principal ballet dancer in Russia and the United States, Mr. Morschakov performed the leading roles in all of the major classical ballets including Jean de Brienne in “Raymonda”, Romeo in “Romeo and Juliet”, Basilio in “Don Quixote”, both Spartacus and Crassus in “Spartacus”, Prince Siegfried and Von Rothbart in “Swan Lake”, Poet in “Chopiniana”, Cavalier in “Nutcracker”, Albrecht in “Giselle”, and many more. Upon moving to The United States, he was a Principal ballet dancer with the Sarasota Ballet of Florida, and Dance Alive National Ballet, where was also a company ballet master and choreographer. Mr. Morschakov served as ballet master for the senior level boys division of the Krasnodar Choreographic Institute, teaching men’s technique to advanced level students. Mr. Morschakov’s students from Krasnodar are currently performing professionally in many companies throughout the world, including the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow and the Polish National Ballet Company. He has been a guest instructor at many schools across the US, including the Kirov Academy of Ballet, Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Bolshoi Ballet Summer Intensive audition tour. Mr. Morschakov was a Laureate of the Philip Morris International Ballet Competition in 1999 and 2001. During his career as a Principal ballet dancer he performed and toured throughout the world, dancing in Russia, USA, Portugal, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, Lebanon, and Turkey.
Mr. Ivan Poroshin ~ Assistant Director * Ballet * Character * Contemporary * Pas de Deux * Private Coaching
Mr. Ivan graduated from the world-famous Perm Ballet Academy, receiving a “Red Diploma”, the highest honor awarded by the Russian government. As the leading Soloist with the Perm Ballet Company, Mr. Ivan has performed the Principal roles in all of the major classical ballets including Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Nutcracker, Golden Age, Swan Lake, Coppelia and many more. Mr. Ivan has performed the Principal roles in Balanchine’s Serenade, Rubies, Apollo, Concerto Barocco, Ballet Imperial, as well as Principal roles in works by J. Robbins and W. Forsythe, Possohkov, K. MacMillan, and in multiple contemporary works. Mr. Ivan received his Master’s of Teaching in Ballet Pedagogy and Character Dance from the Perm State Institution of Arts and Culture. Mr. Ivan has served as ballet master for Perm Ballet Company, instructing classes, and rehearsing company dancers for performances and competitions, and was invited to join the faculty of the Perm Ballet Academy. Mr. Ivan’s distinguished career has been marked by several outstanding international awards – “Diagilev Prize” 2008 and 2013, “Magic Coulisse” Diploma 2013, First Prize at “Arabesque Competition”, culminating in his nomination for Russia’s prestigious “Golden Mask Award” as “Best Male Ballet Dancer” of Russia on two occasions. The “Golden Mask Award” is internationally recognized as the equivalent of America’s “Academy Awards/Oscars”. Mr. Ivan has toured internationally to the United States, Canada, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, France, China, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Oman, Greece, Belgium, and is highly sought-after internationally as both an instructor and a professional dancer. In addition to teaching at ARCB, Mr. Ivan will also perform the Principal roles in our productions for our 2018/2019 season.
