About our Levels
- Pre-Ballet * Primary * Level 1 and 2 Ballet
The Academy’s Children’s Division offers a wonderful introduction and early training program for young dancers with a focus on developing the proper ballet foundation, musicality, placement, coordination, flexibility and performance opportunities in a friendly, yet disciplined environment.
- Level 3 and Level 4
Ballet * Character * Contemporary * Pre-Pointe * Stretch/Conditioning * Variations
Level 3 and 4 builds on the foundation students received in Level 1 and 2. In Level 3 and 4, students are exposed to additional forms of dance, and an increase in classes to allow students to enhance their training. Students have several performance opportunities during the year, as well as being able to participate in masterclasses and our summer intensive.
- Level 5 and 6 (Intermediate/Advanced Ages 13-Adult and Advanced Ages 13-Adult)

Level 5 & 6 is designed for students who are looking for serious and high quality classical ballet instruction, in a supportive and encouraging environment. All Level 5 & 6 classes are conducted by the Academy’s senior staff, who offer professional guidance, experience, and bring a wealth of knowledge to their classes. As part of the program, students may attend a full schedule of daily classes, participate in the Academy’s performances, Summer Intensive and YAGP. Level 5 and 6 are “open levels”, allowing drop-in and part-time attendance as well. Students looking to take their training to the next level with the goal of pursuing a professional ballet career may have the opportunity to audition for the Academy’s Professional Trainee Program
- Adult Ballet
The Academy’s adult classes are designed for adults of all ages and levels. All adult classes are taught by the Academy’s experienced staff who provide support, encouragement and explain the movements in detail. Adult students may register, or attend classes as a drop-in. Performance and master class opportunities are also available. New to our Ann Arbor location – ARCB Ann Arbor Adult Ensemble, a group specifically for adult students looking for performance opportunities, and quality training
- Trainee Program
Our Professional Trainee Program is a specialized intensive year-round training program for serious female and male ballet students ages 12-20 who strive for the highest standard in classical ballet and contemporary ballet education, with the goal of a professional ballet career. Under the expert guidance of famed Russian ballet masters, students will receive world-class training in the Vaganova ballet method, studying both technique and artistry required for a career as a modern day professional dancer. Students will also participate in full-length performances, competitions, and an optional trip to Russia, as well as benefit from the new exchange program partnership developed between the Academy and Russia’s famed Perm Ballet Academy
